Chapter 15 : Invisible Walls

Chapter 15 : Invisible Walls

Even though we had managed to get out of the water, nothing was quite the same as the time everyone liked me. Most of the people were still afraid of the bullies. Those people who sided with us did it really secretively, passing notes under the table or exchanging whispers in deserted classrooms. And in public, we still seemed stranded in the island of loneliness. In the cafeteria, no one sat with us 2 days in a row. In PE class, when we’re separated into teams, we were always the last chosen. And in group projects, the teacher needs to aid us every time in finding a group.

No one threw insults or tripped me in the hallways anymore, but a new kind of silence took their place. It was like I was invisible. People didn’t look at me, didn’t talk to me. Even though Elodie and I sat together at lunch, there was still an air of distance, as if everyone was waiting to see what would happen next.

It was frustrating. Even with proof of what Felicia and the others had done, the class still hesitated to fully accept me again.

Then, fate took an unexpected turn.
